FAQ

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. I offer an extensive consultation where I will analyze your specific situation, explain the entire process to you, give you a clear and concise picture of the whats, hows, whens of your case. Depending on the complexity of your case, I will also discuss the various options available to you should you want to move forward with me.

Other tax attorneys offer free consultation also. Do you suggest that I shop around?

Yes. Before making an appointment with me, I suggest that you attend at least one free consultation with another tax attorney. You will instantly see that I offer extreme value during my consultations. During your consultation with me, I will analyze your case thoroughly, taking into account your objective goal and your family & business situation. You will receive substantivel information from your consultation with me, not merely a quote for attorney’s fees.

What should I bring with me to my initial consultation?

Bring all your paperwork and documents with you during our consultation. I will sit down and sort through everything with you. At the end of the consultation, you will have a clear picture of your case, how it came about, what you can do going forward, and what needs to be done to resolve the problem.

How long before my case can be resolved?

Of course, every case is different in its complexity, and every case has its own life span. However, I can generally obtain a favorable resolution to your case within 90 days.

When I retain your firm, who is actually working on my case?

At the Law Offices of Christina Ciu, you will receive personal attention from Christina, a former IRS senior tax attorney. If tax returns need to be done, Christina is assisted by very capable accountants who are thorough, meticulous, and experienced. Christina personally oversees all aspects of your case and will only delegate the work where appropriate, and where it is cost efficient. Christina understands every aspect of your case and will report the progress to you personally.

What happens if my Offer in Compromise is rejected?

In Collections matters, I would thoroughly analyze your case prior to accepting your case. This means that in situations such as a proposed Offer in Compromise, I will not accept the case unless I feel there is a good chance of success. Of course, situations change between the time of submission and the time of review, therefore, I monitor the case closely and work with the assigned IRS specialist towards a favorable resolution. In most cases, with the submission of additional documentation and arguments, I am able to reach a favorable result for my clients. Where an Offer in Compromise may not be appropriate for the taxpayers, I will suggest another possible resolution based on the specific facts and financial situation at the time.

What is the advantage of using your services?

As a former IRS tax attorney, I’ve seen numerous taxpayers represent themselves in an attempt to resolve their tax problems. Often, these taxpayers cannot find the best strategy in their case. IRS agents and officers sometimes get frustrated with these cases and they are not resolved at the earliest possible opportunity. These cases tend to drag on and interest accrues. Though daunting, the best way to deal with unpleasant tax issues is by retaining an efficient attorney who knows the ins and outs of the system and can navigate you through quickly and effectively.
